Disaster and Emergency Preparedness
Sam Stratton, MD, MPH is an Adjunct Professor in the Fielding School of Public Health at UCLA. He faculty appointment is in the Department of Community Health Sciences where he teaches courses in U.S.-Mexico Border Health and interagency government and non-government organization and management of disasters and public health emergencies. Dr. Stratton has a background in Emergency and Internal Medicine and has previously served as Emergency Medical Services Medical Director for both the Los Angeles County EMS Agency and the Orange County California EMS Agency. From 2006 - 2019 he served as a Deputy Health Officer and is presently a senior program analyst for the Orange County Health Care Agency. He currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief for the indexed journal, Prehospital and Disaster Medicine and is a Visiting Professor in the European Master in Disaster Medicine Program. His research interests are in disaster health and medicine study design and methodology, public health issues at the U.S. - Mexico Border, and community approaches to emergency health and medical events.
